Pecten (Plagioctenium) abietis was named by Jordan and Hertlein (1926). It is extant.

It was recombined as Aequipecten abietis by Durham (1950); it was recombined as Chlamys (Argopecten) abietis by Hertlein (1966); it was recombined as Argopecten abietis by Moore (1984) and Quiroz-Barroso and Perrilliat (1989).
