Pecten (Camptonectes) harfordus was named by Davis (1913) [TYPE SPECIMEN: Syntype used.]. Its type specimen is CAS 406, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Delectopecten harfordus by Moore (1984).
