Pecten mendenhalli was named by Arnold (1906). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Pecten (Plagioctenium) cerrosensis mendenhalli by Arnold (1906) and Hertlein (1925); it was recombined as Pecten (Plagioctenium) mendenhalli by Jordan and Hertlein (1926); it was recombined as Argopecten mendenhalli by Moore (1984).
