Pecten pabloensis was named by Conrad (1857). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Pecten (Plagioctenium) pabloensis by Arnold (1906); it was recombined as Pecten (Chlamys) pabloensis by Clark (1915); it was recombined as Pecten (Aequipecten) pabloensis by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Leptopecten pabloensis by Vedder and Moore (1976); it was recombined as Pacipecten pabloensis by Moore (1984).
