Spisula (Hemimactra) brevirostrata was named by Packard (1916). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Mactra (Spisula) brevirostrata by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Mactromeris brevirostrata by Hall (2002) and Moore (2003).
