Notocupes foersteri was named by Ponomarenko (1971). Its type specimen is PIN 2239/815, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil.
It was recombined as Zygadenia foersteri by Soriano and Delclos (2006) and Kirejtshuk (2020); it was recombined as Brachilatus foersteri by Strelnikova and Yan (2023).
