Leiolepismatina was named by Yang and Xu (1966) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr]. Its type is Leiolepismatina semiconula.

It was assigned to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Bittnerulinae by Williams et al. (2006).
