Taxonomy
Madoia was named by Sun and Ye (1982) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr m Sepkoski's reference number: 881]. Its type is Madoia rostrata. It is the type genus of Madoinae.

It was assigned to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); to Mentzeliinae by Williams et al. (2006); and to Madoinae by He and Chen (2016).
