Taxonomy
Hemiaster gonzalezmunozi was named by Sanchez-Roig (1953). Its type specimen is Sanchez Roig Tipo No. 778, a test, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Hemiaster (Trachyaster) gonzalezmunozi by Kier (1984).
