Echinus improcerus was named by Conrad (1843). It is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Psammechinus improcerus by Stefanini (1912); it was recombined as Coelopleurus improcerus by Clark and Twitchell (1915); it was recombined as Arbacia improcera by Cooke (1941) and Kier (1972).
