Eupatagus (Brissopatagus) alabamensis was named by Cooke (1942). Its type specimen is USNM 498979, a test, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Kinchafoonee Creek dam, which is in a Priabonian marine horizon in the Ocala Formation of Georgia.
