Taxonomy
Spencia quadrata was named by Fritz (1968). Its type specimen is USNM 153610, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Pioche Shale, Bed 11, which is in a Delamaran carbonate shale/limestone in the Pioche Shale Formation of Nevada.
