Parachoristites was named by Barchatova (1968) [Sepkoski's age data: C Bash-l P Asse Sepkoski's reference number: 1200]. Its type is Parachoristites volongaensis.

It was assigned to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Choristitinae by Waterhouse (2004) and Williams et al. (2006).
