Bonnia decora was named by Fritz (1991). Its type specimen is GSC 91748, a cephalon/head (cranidium), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Collection 90661, which is in a Dyeran marine shale/limestone in the Illtyd Formation of Canada.
