Taxonomy
Diploneura maxima was named by Dürrenfeldt (1968). Its type specimen is GZG 14819, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Willershausen clay pit (GZG collection), which is in a Piacenzian pond marl in Germany.
