Taxonomy
Cyrtia (Pseudosyringothyris) was named by Fredericks (1916). Its type is Cyrtia (Pseudosyringothyris) karpinskii.

It was reranked as Pseudosyringothyris by Kalashnikov (1998), Sepkoski (2002) and Williams et al. (2006).

It was assigned to Cyrtia by Fredericks (1916); to Syringothyrididae by Kalashnikov (1998); to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Permasyrinxinae by Williams et al. (2006).
