Taxonomy
Meconeura petrefacta was named by Zhang et al. (1986). Its type specimen is Shandong Provincial Museum L84107, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Maershan village, Laiyang, which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large siliciclastic in the Laiyang Formation of China. It is the type species of Meconeura.
