Wormaldia vlipla was named by Melnitsky and Ivanov (2005). Its type specimen is PIN 364/57, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic amber (PIN collection 364), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Lithuania.
