Diagnosis

---|---|---|
S. D. Webb and J. A. Meachen 2004 | The new species is larger than Pleiolama vera, with shorter diastemata before the cheek tooth series; P3 and P3 are unreduced; P3 has a nearly complete lingual crescent, and its antero- lingual portion is more fully developed than in Pleiolama vera. The upper and lower molars are less fully hypsodont than in any other Lamini. The metapodials are moderately long and slender.
The new species differs from Alforjas magnifon- tis in having a nearly complete lingual crescent on P3. It has a large lacrimal vacuity, whereas A. mag- nifontis lacks one in the type and has only a small one in the paratype. The posterior narial opening is broad and lies opposite M2. The large postglenoid process articulates with the mandibular condyle. The metacarpals are more than 400 mm long, as compared with maximum length of about 300 mm in Alforjas magnifontis (new combination, see dis- cussion). |
