Sinucosta was named by Dagys (1963) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis Tr Rhae Sepkoski's reference number: 2,434]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Sinucostinae, Sinucostidae.
It was assigned to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Sinucostinae by Williams et al. (2006) and He and Chen (2016).
