Taxonomy
Volsellina areiensis was named by Neves et al. (2014). Its type specimen is DGM-4369, a shell, and it is a mold. Its type locality is Rio d'Areia, Teixeira Soares region, ParanĂ¡ State, which is in an Asselian marine siltstone in the Taciba Formation of Brazil.
