Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
M. S. Stevens et al. 2023Oreodonts with relatively hypsodont cheek teeth, molars which narrow anteriorly, prominent labial cusps on P1 and P3, prominent labial cingula on the premolars except on the conical P1/p1, and a tendency towards early molarization of the premolars. The narial notch is retracted to at least the level of P4 (and sometimes M1), but there are no facial vacuities as in other taxa with retracted nasals. There is a fan-shaped occipital region, and a posterior extension of the palate toward the pterygoid region.
