Tegulocrea was named by Carter (1992) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-u C Vise-l Sepkoski's reference number: 1175]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Spiriferida by Carter (1992) and Sepkoski (2002); to Imbrexiinae by Waterhouse (2004); and to Imbrexiidae by Williams et al. (2006).
