Taxonomy
Holmia rowei was named by Walcott (1910) [Indicated as a new species in Walcott 1910, but this name is also shown in that reference to have appeared in Walcott 1908].

It was recombined as Esmeraldina rowei by Resser and Howell (1938), Fritz (1995), Lieberman (1999), Jell and Adrain (2002), Hollingsworth (2006) and Abe et al. (2010).
