Taxonomy
Tylothyris was named by North (1920) [Sepkoski's age data: D Fras-u C Vise-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1,400]. It is the type genus of Tylothyridinae.

It was assigned to Delthyrinae by Campbell and Engel (1963); to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Tylothyridinae by Williams et al. (2006).
