Taxonomy
Xenosaria was named by Cooper and Grant (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-u Sepkoski's reference number: 7]. Its type is Xenosaria exotica. It is the type genus of Xenosariinae.

It was assigned to Xenosariinae by Williams et al. (2002); and to Spiriferida by Sepkoski (2002).
