Taxonomy
Ptilorhynchia australis was named by Thomson and Owen (1979). Its type specimen is KG.2.79 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is KG 2 (Locality H), which is in the Aptian of mudstone/conglomerate the Fossil Bluff Formation Antarctica.
