Taxonomy
Imitoceras oxydentale was named by Bockwinkel and Ebbighausen (2006). Its type specimen is MfN MB.C.3831.1, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Jebel Debouaa, Mfis, Bed 9, Tafilalt, Anti-Atlas, which is in a Tournaisian coastal shale in Morocco.
