Taxonomy
Goniatites equicostatus was named by Hall (1874) [Goniatites chemungensis var. equicostatus]. Its type specimen is NYSM 4074 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Schindewolfoceras equicostatum by House and Kirchgasser (2008).
