Taxonomy
Goniatites peracutus was named by Hall (1876). Its type specimen is NYSM 4091 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Epitornoceras peracutum by Petersen (1975), Korn and Klug (2002) and House and Kirchgasser (2008).
