Taxonomy
Awightipsocus megaloi was named by Azar (2014). Its type specimen is BMNH In.17187, a forewing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Bembridge Marls (A'Court Smith collection), which is in a Priabonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Bouldnor Formation of the United Kingdom.
