Taxonomy
Eospirigerina was named by Schuchert and Cooper (1930). It is the type genus of Plectatrypinae.

It was corrected as Eospirigerina by Villas and Cocks (1996) and Williams et al. (2002).

It was assigned to Atrypinae by Villas and Cocks (1996); and to Spirigerininae by Williams et al. (2002).
