Taxonomy
Leptaena planumbona was named by Hall (1847). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Strophomena planumbona by International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature (1992), Jin et al. (1997) and Cocks (2005).

Synonyms
  • Strophomena rugosa was named by Rafinesque and De Blainville (1824). It is the type species of Strophomena.

    It was replaced with Strophomena planumbona by Cocks (1990).
