Taxonomy
Sellagoniatites erbeni was named by Göddertz (1987). Its type specimen is GPIBo/Go 51, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Fs.-Nr. 19 beds, Marhouma-KM 30 section, SW Algeria, which is in an Eifelian carbonate limestone/marl in Algeria.
