Taxonomy
Arctocephalites (Cranocephalites) costidensus was named by Imlay (1962). Its type specimen is USNM 130745, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS Mesozoic loc. 24116, Little Nelchina River, Talkeetna Mts., Cook Inlet, which is in a Bathonian marine siliciclastic in the Tuxedni Formation of Alaska.
