Taxonomy
Ammonites oolithicus was named by d'Orbigny (1846). Its type specimen is MNHN F. A03757 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Lissoceras (Lissoceras) oolithicum by Besnosov and Mitta (1993); it was recombined as Lissoceras oolithicum by Sandoval and Westermann (1986), Zatoń (2010) and Galácz (2017).
