Taxonomy
Ammonites subradiatus was named by d'Orbigny (1823). It is the type species of Oppelia, Oppelia (Oppelia).

It was recombined as Oppelia subradiata by Sandoval and Westermann (1986); it was recombined as Oppelia (Oppelia) subradiata by Besnosov and Mitta (1993).
