Taxonomy
Phaulostephanus burckhardti was named by Sandoval and Westermann (1986). Its type specimen is IGM-3932, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mx3: Los Rebajes (Level 1), which is in a Bajocian offshore shale in the Taberna Formation of Mexico.
