Taxonomy
Catazyga was named by Hall and Clarke (1893). It is the type genus of Catazyginae.

It was assigned to Zygospirinae by Mitchell (1977); to Atrypida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Catazyginae by Williams et al. (2002).
