Taxonomy
Modiola hillana was named by Sowerby (1818). It is the type species of Modiolus (Cyranus).
It was recombined as Modiolus (Modiolus) hillanus by Freneix and Cubaynes (1984); it was recombined as Modiolus (Cyranus) hillanus by Paredes et al. (2013).
