Taxonomy

Pachydiscus subcompressus was named by Matsumoto (1954). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Pachydiscus (Pachydiscus) subcompressus by Morozumi (1985).

Sister species lacking formal opinion data

P. gollevilensis, P. japonicus, P. vaju

Synonyms

Joaquinites fascicostatum was named by Anderson (1958). Its type specimen is CAS 31593.01, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS Loc. 2361 - Joaquin Ridge [Ragged Valley Shale], which is in a Maastrichtian marine shale in the Ragged Valley Shale Formation of California.

It was synonymized subjectively with Pachydiscus subcompressus by Matsumoto (1959).
