Taxonomy
Nowakites puertoensis was named by Anderson (1958). Its type specimen is CAS 28323.01, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is CAS 28323, Del Puerto Creek, which is in a Santonian marine siliciclastic in the Panoche Formation of California.
