Taxonomy
Leioceras comptocostosum was named by Chandler and Callomon (2009). Its type specimen is SM X 40269, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Coombe Quarry, Mapperton, Bed 2c,d, which is in an Opalinum shallow subtidal conglomerate/limestone in the United Kingdom.
