Adygellopsis was named by Sun and Shi (1985) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Sepkoski's reference number: 881]. Its type is Adygellopsis pentagonalis.

It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Dielasmatoidea by Williams et al. (2007).
