Aneuthelasma was named by Cooper and Grant (1976) [Sepkoski's age data: P Guad-u Sepkoski's reference number: 7]. Its type is Aneuthelasma amygdalinum.

It was assigned to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Gillediinae by Williams et al. (2006).
