Taxonomy
Argyrotheca was named by Dall (1900) [Sepkoski's age data: K Ceno R Sepkoski's reference number: 1066]. It is extant. Its type is Terebratula cuneata.

It was assigned to Terebratellidae by Hertlein and Grant IV (1944); to Cancellothyrididae by Pacaud and Le Renard (1995); to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Megathyrididae by Cooper (1979), Williams et al. (2006) and Bitner and Müller (2017).
