Rhynchonella palma was named by Szajnocha (1879). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Balin, which is in a Bathonian/Callovian marine horizon in Poland.
It was recombined as Lacunaerhynchia palma by Shi and Grant (1993) and Vörös (2004).
