Taxonomy
Matheronites brevicostatus was named by Bogdanova (1971). Its type specimen is TsGM 1/10096, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Area of the Gobekadzhi wells, Tuarkyr, which is in a Barremian marine horizon in Turkmenistan.
