Bouchardia was named by Davidson (1850) [Sepkoski's age data: T Dani R]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Bouchardiidae.

It was assigned to Terebratellidae by Camacho et al. (2000); to Terebratulida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Bouchardiidae by Williams et al. (2006).
