Taxonomy
Terebratula belemnitica was named by Quenstedt (1858).

It was recombined as Rhynchonella belemnitica by Siblik (2008); it was recombined as Prionorhynchia belemnitica by Alméras and Fauré (2000), Alméras et al. (2007), Alméras and Fauré (2007) and Paredes et al. (2013).
